  1. Vie Sin says:

Diabetic Peripherl Neuropathy has nothing to do with age.
It is totally dependent on how long your diabetes has been out of control.
It also depends on how BADLY your diabetes is out of control.
Peripheral neurpothay is the reason most people go to the doctror for diabetes in the first place. It is the first symptom of diabetes that hurts.
According to the Americian Diabetes Associatiaons, most people who are diagnosed with type 2 Diabates have had the disease 5-7 years before they do anything about it. So if you are diagnoses diabetic at age 37, you probably had blood sugar problems starting when you were about 30-32 yeas old.
And is it not just the periphery (fingers and toes) that are affected. In sever cases the whole arm and leg goes numb. The optic nerve can be affected, causing blindness. The nerves in the intestines can be affected, causing severe constipation or constant diarrhea.
One of the most common effect of diabetic neuropathy is in the sexual organs — many diabetecis, both men and women, have trouble enjoying sex. This is often causes Erectile Dysfunction in men.
The good news is that the sooner you get diagnosed, the sooner you start making effective lifestyle changes, and the longer you keep your blood sugars normal, the less these effects will be. And in many cases they can be reversed, but very slowly
