What measures will help alleviate the neuropathy of the feet caused by diabetes?

My mother is type II diabetic and suffers from neuropathy in his feet. I read on websites that there is a treatment, but was curious if any of you out there who have no solution for this relief. . . as home remedies or knowledge of OTC creams that help? She is also the area and biting at times to keep it in the evening. Diabetic Society. . . . PLEASE HELP! Any suggestions?
